- I don’t understand why people leave the default settings on their computers for stylistic things. like is the picture of rolling hills (Windows XP default wallpaper) SO magnificent that you want to keep it your wallpaper? is the windows start and shutdown sounds so melodious that they will remain your startup and shutdown sounds forever?
- why don’t people know how to mute their electronics? i mean it’s usually a matter of no more than 3 clicks or button presses. is it really too much to do?
- why do so many smart people like to talk about how smart they are, but at the same time act overly humble or “unaware” of their intelligence? i mean isn’t this more annoying than the person is smart and is just arrogant and up front with that arrogance?
- do apple computer owners feel superior (i mean every day folks, not the rabid fanboys that most apple owners are… and yes, i’m an apple owner) while sitting in class in a sea of wintel notebooks? their apple logo glowing softly?
- it’s not as hard to think of and type this list while taking notes as well (and it should be)
- all the studies and arguments that ipods, mp3 players, etc lead to social isolationism are very true and very accurate. i’ve been in classes with some people for 3 years and i don’t know their names, they only know my last name (how professors call on students). i’m otherwise known as “headphone guy” or “guy with the headphones.” if i don’t have them, the first thing people ask me is “where are your headphones?”
- in this day and age, professors should just give out copies of notes electronically, especially things like powerpoint presentations.
- there aren’t as many attractive people in school as i would’ve thought (and yes, i include myself in the not so attractive side)
- there is a huge difference in how law students and med students (doc, nurse, PA) carry themselves during their off times.
- something very attractive about med students (seem to walk with a little more focus, determination)
- 8, 9, and 10 might be more a function of where i am and where i go to school than anything else

this is borderline scary. you can apparently opt out, but there’s no guarantee that your info won’t appear again.
Pick a position would ya?!?
Alex Smith will be the 49ers first pick – updated 4.18.05
There is still a chance that Alex Smith will not be the first pick in this weekend’s NFL draft but four league sources, all involved to varying degrees in the selection process, confirmed on Monday afternoon that the standout Utah quarterback is first in the hearts of the San Francisco 49ers.
Aaron Rodgers will be the 49ers pick – updated 4.18.05
Which begs the question of whether Tedford’s latest prize pupil, California quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the likely choice of the San Francisco 49ers with the top overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft…
come on! i know the draft and prognositcating are inexact sciences, especially this year. but these two stories by the SAME GUY updated on the same day (no time stamp on the first, the second updated at 1234pm EDT) going two different ways. maybe he heard something different about the pick after posting one of the articles. but this is espn online, not print. if you can update one, you can update the other. like it’s so hard to change a few paragraphs to be consistent? at least within the span of a day? hey, go back and forth all you want, but don’t put up two stories that say two different things on the same day. come on now…

The Complete Calvin and Hobbes
Amazon.com: Books: The Complete Calvin and Hobbes
Composed of three hardcover, four-color volumes in a sturdy slipcase, this edition will include all Calvin and Hobbes cartoons that ever appeared in syndication
oh man, such greatness is this strip. i love calvin and hobbes. and i HATE all those ppl who have infringed on the trademark to make those idiotic decals of calvin pissing on X or kneeling and praying. There’s a reason why bill watterson didn’t license these characters (he writes about it in the 10th anniversary book). Love me some Calvin and Hobbes
haikus
i used to write haikus when i was bored in class. they all pretty much sounded the same. something about time going slowly, wanting to leave class, being tired, and classmates being stupid. but right now, this moment, seriously so tired that i don’t think i could focus enough to compose one. i should’ve not edited my sleep and just left the string of D’s or whatever letter my finger stayed on while i dozed. it’s amusing. i’ve not slept this much in class since freshman year of college (when i also fell asleep writing notes; once i fell asleep walking). ti’s sad really. but i’m a tired man…
List One… oh yeah, it starts some more
okay, so i think this is the start. i’m writing this, via ecto, sans internet connection, so it won’t be posted until later tonight. the first thing to do with this would be to think of a topic for my list. which is a none too easy task in it’s own right. and then i suppose the number of things that i want to list. though i suppose at the end of the day, i could make a list, then make a title to reflect said list.
so here we go, all pre-break stuff, no extra clicks to read this my friends, oh no.
6 things i think i think about law school
- the people are not that smart (but maybe it’s just my school, or my class)
- the people do not get smarter
- perhaps nothing zaps my strength as much as sitting through lecture
- perhaps the tail end of the spring semester is not the ideal time to give up caffeine
- it’s sometimes really hard to stay awake, even as you type
- law school makes you smarter about being lazy (see #2, this is the sole exception)
there it is first list. enjoy (i’ve fallen asleep writing it, it’s crazy because it’s not late, and i’m being active typing and all that, but still falling out.
perserverence
who doesn’t quit? koreans don’t quit
now that is perserverence. but do you really want someone who is illiterate driving? i mean yeah now after 270 times, he recognizes street signs and whatnot, but korea doesn’t have those signs with words on them (e.g. construction, etc)? this is kind of scary, but then again, so are normal drivers in korea.
trying this ecto thing
hmm, it’s easy to use, but then there are problems. hopefully i’ll get it down pat. haha, of course this allows me to blog offline and then post later. which probably means more posts when i’m bored and sitting around in class. yes i’m in school (not for much longer). of course it deviates from my normal link-comment format. but maybe i’ll do my lists when i’m offline…
ecto
okay, so i’m trying out ecto versus using the blogsome web interface. we shall see how it works out over the next few days. the web interface of blogsome is great, esp the popup window to blog whatever browser page i am looking at. though i do like that it can post what i’m listening to on itunes if i’m listening to itunes. in fact let’s try it out.

lists!
okay, I haven’t started yet. Which is no real surprise to myself or people who know me. But I still do intend to make a list of “X things i think i think” (thanks PK) (do i need to thank peter king every time i type it? i don’t know, don’t know if i plan to or not, just a play it by ear type of thing).
also, I have no idea what is up with my typing. It seems sentence by sentence, or even word by word, i go from proper typing with capitalization and punctuation, to my more free flow no caps, marginal (probably incorrect) punctuation.
