Color o’ the year

Pantone selects blue iris as it’s color of the year.  Says Patone:

“Blue Iris brings together the dependable aspects of blue, underscored by a strong, soul-searching purple cast. Emotionally, it is anchoring and meditative with a touch of magic.”

I, like 95% of all men, claim blue as my favorite color.  It is definitely purply.  In fact so much so that I might tend to call it more purple than blue.

Movie review

So I finally watched Helvetica last week.  I wanted to see it since it was announced.  I had tickets when it was local, but I couldn’t make the show.  So watched the DVD.  Yes it is a movie about a font.  It’s mostly in praise of, but does have some of the detractors.  It’s a good movie.  And if you are into typography, whether or not you like Helvetica, or design, you should probably watch this movie.

Urban injuries

HUGE umbrellas give a poke in the eye.

So golf umbrellas (or any umbrella over 58″) have become very popular for everyday use.  Mostly sold to men (no big surprise there).  And not necessarily because of big, but a lot of people are getting injured by careless umbrella use in cities.  But let me tell you, an umbrella could poke my entire eye out, but no way I’d let the other person just walk off.  I’d pick up my eyeball and then chase them down (bumping into everyone because with one eye I lack depth perception) and beat them.

Pock-It

Cool, but perhaps ulitimately useless.  I guess the money example’s good.  but the reservations, I mean I guess you don’t have to write the restaurant’s info because you kept the card and just wrote a reminder on the pock-it.  Dunno.  It’s neat nonetheless… like the Post-It wall I posted about way back when.
