damn skinny

Role reversal –

In stark contrast, it’s the men who want to be slender, vulnerable and protected. Young males between the ages of 18 and 30 make up the slimmest segment of the population and the ideal fashion weight as decreed by the apparel industry is 57 kilograms, or about 125 pounds, for a height of 175 centimeters, or 5 feet 8 inches. Many men try to adhere to that figure and some claim they want to be even skinnier.

Both Shirakawa and his girlfriend like the fact that she weighs more than he does, and is the leader of the couple. “She’s a lot stronger than I am, can lift heavy things and go drinking until dawn. I admire that about her, and feel protected when I’m around her,” he said. Older than he by five years, it was Shirakawa’s girlfriend who made the approach, started the dating process and decided what course their relationship would take.

“Frankly, I think women should be in the driver’s seat. Society and relationships work better that way,” he said. Shirakawa likes to wear his girlfriend’s clothes and often shows up for work wearing her blouse and jeans, to the general approval of his co-workers.

Hirayama said: “For young men, wearing women’s clothes has almost become a status symbol – a confirmation of being slim and pretty and, therefore, desirable. Young women, on the other hand, are less interested now in looking beautiful for the benefit of young men. They dress up for themselves, for their own satisfaction.”

Wabi-Sabi

An Earnest Cut and Sew – Styledash

I don’t know if I’d ever put standard ES denim near the phrase wabi-sabi, but maybe this is different with the customization?  I wouldn’t go so far as to say wabi-sabi can only be used with raw denim, and I don’t know if you can get raw denim at the ES shop, but something about ES just doesn’t scream wabi-sabi to me.

Here is an interesting blog post on wabi-sabi.  Maybe I linked to it before, I don’t remember and am too lazy to check.  I got it way back from AYN blog

Denim Therapy

Denim Therapy

I don’t know if it’d be worth it for regular jeans, but I’d def send in premium denim. Hmm, though I might send in my APCs if they needed them. I love these jeans (maybe because they were my first raw pair). APCs and Nudies are what I have. And I NEVER get to wear jeans (basically it’s weekends only and not even all weekends because let’s face it, if I’m lounging at home playing PS3 or watching a movie, I’m not doing it in jeans, even jeans i need to break-in), but I’m looking at getting another pair or two (thinking Samurais or Imperials, maybe SugarCanes, less likely Pure Blues…. though AYN had some other recommendations I’ll look at as well).

Not my bag, baby… (but kind of)

“Dog Meat” Dog T-Shirt > ZenKimchi Korean Fun Store | CafePress

Normally I’m against this sort of joke (my friend’s favorite joke: What do you call a Korean walking 5 dogs? A caterer.). AND I’m against dog clothing (though my dog has 5 items of clothing, I purchased 2, my girlfriend bought Monty 3 things). But I do kind of want this:

Wii want….

orange Alexander … wii death …

Haha, don’t you just love bad pun headlines?  I cannot stand how many people are tossing their Wii-motes!  How are these people even alive?  How is it that they don’t unintentionally let go of the car’s steering wheel while driving?  Especially in games like Wii Tennis.  I mean, do they routinely let their real rackets go while playing actual tennis?  Or is it that 90% of Wii owners have never actually participated in an actual sport….  (I kid… sort of).

All that said, it makes me want this shirt!
