The New York Times > Technology > Technology Special > Form & Function: As Cellphones Bulk Up, How Much Is Too Much?

this is exactly on point. well at least the first 3 paragraphs i read prior to deciding to post. we overconsume everything. software grows out of control. we eat too much. we buy too much crap. our cell phones have 4563 features we don’t use. i’m not the biggest fan of the razr (though i’m on the verge of picking one up bc it has what i am looking for in a phone, beyond the style aspect of it), but i can appreciate not needing to add the kitchen sink to it.

science, the answer

For Gay Men, an Attraction

to a Different Kind of Scent – New York Times

so like wouldn’t one think that studies like these would put an end to debates whether being homosexual is a “choice?” though, i’m not sure how much debate there is about that anymore. what exactly is the position of the “right” on homosexuality other than they think it is wrong and immoral, etc.

Pac Man celebrates his 25th birthday – May. 10, 2005

ah pac-man’s 25. i was never good at pacman. which leads me to my question: does pacman have an ending? can you beat/win at pacman? like galaga didn’t have an ending, it just went faster and faster (though it got easier if you did the trick so the “bugs” couldn’t shoot at you). what happened with pacman? i suppose i could use google or something and look it up, but rather than expend the effort, i’ll just ask the question to the world at large…

is your glacier sick?

CNN.com – Swiss wrap glacier to slow ice melt – May 10, 2005

put a blanket on it! slow that melting. isn’t it great all these environmental-types are doing so much to save the planet (don’t send the hate mail, i’m all for saving the planet), but you know, the planet has a finite life span. the sun will indeed supernova at some point (however far in the future), and the earth will be gone. so the question is one like a carpe diem versus save for the future (somewhere in between). do you just live it up while you got it? or work to save it for an uncertain future (though admittedly earth isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, unless like in some hitchhiker’s guide move there is really some plan to destroy the earth in an eminent domain type move to make a highway or something)?

i’m not a doctor

okay, i’m not a doctor. i don’t pretend to know about medicine. if i can research specific things to ask informed questions, i do. and i don’t know what the diagnosis/prognosis was for him, but seriously how long is rip hamilton of the pistons going to wear that face mask? honestly. does it take THIS long for a broken bone in the face to heal? he’s been wearing it for at least 2 years (all of last season pretty much and all of this season). is it just something he’s decided to wear to “protect” his face? does he wear it for fashion? does he wear it for superstition (his game really came together last season)? how long is he going to wear this mask? do you think his friends are tempted to buy him “custom” masks? btw, what happened to custom masks? now all masks are clear and plain. i remember in the early-mid 90s all of a sudden all the face masks were all kinds of painted in designs, etc.
