True Hoop: Nike Music

Nike has called upon some of hip hop’s most elite artists to create an original song; Kanye West, Nas, KRS-ONE, and Rakim. There are two versions of the song, “Better Than I’ve Ever Been” (prod. Rick Rubin) and the remix “Classic (Better Than I’ve Ever Been)” (prod. DJ Premier). Rakim is only featured on the remix and not the original.

They definitely got some of the best on the tracks.  I’m listening now, it’s pretty good.  Well as good as it could be for (as referenced in the above link) guys putting down lyrics for basically a commercial.

I use Tangerine myself.  Or I would if i really cared.  I just run with my mess on shuffle.  I really should make some workout specific playlists.  I can’t be bothered with such stuff.  The Repacer feature sounds cool though.  Reworking the BPM of a song to fit.  Though I could see how it would totally F things up.

When did it become irrelevant?

Fan Asks Hard Questions About Rap Music – New York Times

Another high school student at the Chicago event, Vasawa Robinson, 19, said rap showed “real life” and that “if you try to show a different picture, the kids won’t want to listen.” The more political, socially conscious rap, Vasawa said, was for an older generation.

This is crazy!  Political, socially conscious anything/everything should be relevant and important to all generations.  I don’t understand how a generation can just forgo important messages given to them in a medium they prefer in lieu of misogynistic hateful messages.
